This service is for researchers who have not worked with Word-Medex before. Commissioning a full editorial audit from someone you have never met is a considerable step. The Diagnostic Audit exists so that you do not have to take it on faith.
For a fixed fee, a qualified physician with over three decades of editorial experience reads your manuscript and tells you, candidly and in the register of an expert peer reviewer, what stands between it and acceptance at your target journal. Nothing is edited. Nothing is rewritten. You receive a judgement report — and the evidence for it.
A structured assessment of five domains, followed by the three findings most likely to cause rejection at your named target journal. Delivered as a written report of three to four pages.

The fee depends only on the length of the manuscript. It does not vary with the ranking of the target journal — the standard against which your paper is judged changes, but the work does not, and you should not pay more for being ambitious.

Yes, without exception. Your manuscript and all associated files are treated as confidential and are never shared, published, quoted, or used as examples. Word-Medex has operated on this basis for thirty years. No manuscript is retained beyond the period needed to complete the work and answer any follow-up questions.
You are welcome to say so. The report is a considered professional judgement, not a verdict, and reasonable scientists disagree. Write to Dr Issa with your reasoning and he will respond substantively. If a finding rests on a misreading of your data or methods, the report will be corrected.
Yes, and it is one of the most useful applications. If you have reviewers' comments from the earlier submission, include them — the diagnostic will address both what the reviewers raised and what they did not, which is often the more important half.
Yes. The assessment is made against a specific journal's expectations, so naming your intended target is essential. If you are undecided between two or three, say so, and the report will comment on fit.
Clinical and translational medicine broadly. Audited manuscripts have been published in journals covering Oncology, Haematology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Paediatrics, Immunology, Transplant Medicine, Pulmonology, Anaesthesiology, Gastroenterology and Orthopaedics, among others. If your field falls well outside these, write first and Dr Issa will tell you honestly whether he is the right reader for it.
All fees are in Australian dollars. No payment is required at submission. On delivery of the report, a Stripe invoice is emailed to you, payable securely online by credit card within 7 days.
For international clients: please confirm with your card issuer that your card is enabled for overseas transactions and that the limit covers the invoice. This is a common requirement for cards issued in Japan and elsewhere, and can usually be arranged with a short call to your bank.
