Pre-Submission Medical Audits for High-Stakes Manuscripts

Strategic Support for Submissions to High-Impact Journals
LANCET
JAMA
Nature

BMJ

We Don't Just Edit. We De-Risk Your Submission.

"AI can perfect your grammar. It cannot tell you why your manuscript will be rejected." 「AIは文法を完璧にできます。しかし、あなたの論文がなぜリジェクトされるのかをAIが教えることはできません。」

In an era where researchers can polish their English with a click, language is no longer your competitive advantage. The real reason high-stakes manuscripts are rejected is flawed scientific logic, a buried clinical message, or an argument architecture that fails to persuade a skeptical Western editorial board.

A qualified physician with over three decades of editorial experience audits your paper for these hidden, AI-proof flaws. We don't just correct your text; we strategically re-engineer your scientific narrative to meet the unspoken expectations of journals like The Lancet, JAMA, NEJM, and The BMJ.

Two Ways to Strengthen Your Submission

1. Manuscript Diagnostic Audit

Your Low-Risk First Step

A fixed-fee, blunt, reviewer-perspective report on your paper's readiness for your target journal. You receive a structured assessment of:

  • Hypothesis clarity & positioning
  • Scientific argument architecture
  • Strength & presentation of evidence
  • Critical omissions in the discussion
  • Top 3 rejection risks and how to fix them

No editing. Pure strategic medical-scientific assessment. Delivered in a 4-5-page report.

2. Full Pre-Submission Strategic Audit

For Manuscripts Ready for Submission

Our comprehensive, MD-led service. We don't just polish your text; we rigorously re-engineer your manuscript's argument for maximum persuasive power. This includes:

  • Complete logic flow and structure re-alignment
  • Contextual English rewrite (authoritative medical prose, not AI-speak)
  • Target-journal specific cover letter strategy
  • Reframing of conclusions for a Western editorial audience

Your paper, transformed into a compelling, submission-ready scientific narrative.

For Japanese Medical Researchers 日本人医学研究者の方へ

Why do Western high-impact medical journals reject manuscripts from Japanese researchers? Western editorial boards frequently reject Japanese medical papers due to cultural differences in academic communication. High-impact journals require a rhetorical framework that often conflicts with Japanese scholarly traditions, leading to rejection for three main reasons:

"Acceptance in Western journals requires more than excellent English. It demands a directness of logic and an assertiveness of conclusion that often conflicts with Japanese scholarly tradition." 「西洋のジャーナルに受理されるには、優れた英語力以上のものが必要です。それは、日本の学術的伝統としばしば衝突する、直接的な論理展開と主張の明確さです。」

Our audit specifically addresses the cultural communication patterns that place Japanese manuscripts at a disadvantage:

This is not about changing your science. It is about translating its value into the rhetorical framework that high-impact journals require.

Frequently Asked Questions よくあるご質問

Submission & Process
Word-Medex accepts all standard document and figure file formats. Manuscripts are almost exclusively in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx), Figure files in PowerPoint (.ppt/.pptx), and Tables either in MS Word or Excel (.xls/.xlsx). The only constraint is a maximum file size of 25 MB per file, with up to 10 files per submission. If your figures or supplementary files exceed this limit, compress all files in a single zip file and submit.
Immediately after successful submission, you will be directed to a confirmation page. Furthermore, an acknowledgment email is also sent to you on the same day, confirming receipt of your manuscript and all uploaded files.
Yes. The file upload process accepts your manuscript together with any related files — figures, tables submitted as separate files, Excel data files, and any other supporting documents. All are uploaded in the same submission.

Important: If you are submitting both a Revised Manuscript and a Response to Reviewers, these must be submitted separately using two individual submissions — one for the revised manuscript and its files, and a second for the response to reviewers document. The MS Word file of the response to reviewers comments should include a letter to the Editor-in-Chief, the reviewers' comments, and point-by-point response to each comment.
Turnaround & Deliverables
Standard processing is completed within 10–14 working days from the date of submission confirmation.

Express processing is completed within 1-3 working days and carries a higher unit rate, reflecting the priority scheduling required. The estimated fee for each option is shown in the Fee Estimator section before you submit.
The completed audit delivers a comprehensive package:
  • Journal-ready manuscript — the edited manuscript file, formatted and ready for direct submission to your target journal.
  • Auditor's report — a structured report, written in the style of an expert journal reviewer, identifying issues that require correction, addition, or verification before submission.
  • Compare PDF — a tracked-changes PDF generated by MS Word, showing all editorial changes in colour for your review.
  • Figures — free editing of figures on your PowerPoint file, or digital suggestions for changes where applicable.
  • Tables — tables reformatted to meet the target journal's publication standards.
  • Stripe invoice — a separate invoice issued securely via Stripe, payable online by credit card within 7 days.
Yes, we do when requested.
Pricing & Payment
All charges are in Australian dollars (currently about US$0.70). The fee is calculated primarily on word count, with the unit rate varying by document type (New Manuscript, Revised Manuscript, or Response to Reviewers) and turnaround speed (Standard or Express). Use the Fee Estimator on this page to obtain an instant estimate before submission. A minimum fee of $150 AUD applies to all submissions, including short correspondence letters.
No payment is required at the time of submission. Upon completion of the audit, a Stripe invoice is sent to your email address. Payment is made securely online by credit card and is due within 7 days of receiving the invoice.

Important for international clients: Before making payment, please confirm with your card issuer that your card is enabled for overseas transactions and that the transaction limit covers the invoice amount. This is a common requirement for cards issued in Japan and other countries, and can usually be arranged with a quick call to your bank.
The Scientific Audit
Standard editing services correct grammar, spelling, and language fluency. A Word-Medex Scientific Audit goes substantially further: it examines the logical consistency of your data, checks compliance with the target journal's specific Instructions for Authors, reviews the scientific integrity of your methodology and conclusions, and prepares your manuscript to withstand the scrutiny of expert peer reviewers. The Comparison table on this page summarises the key differences.
Yes — and this is among the most valued services Word-Medex provides. Responding effectively to peer reviewers requires not only precise scientific English but a strategic understanding of how to defend your methodology and conclusions under expert scrutiny. Dr. Issa's 30 years of experience with high-impact journal submissions makes this a particular strength.

Submit your Response to Reviewers as a separate submission from your revised manuscript, selecting "Response to Reviewers" from the Document Type dropdown on the Submission section.
Word-Medex specialises in submissions to Q1-tier international journals including The Lancet, JAMA, Nature, NEJM, and BMJ, as well as leading specialty journals across a broad range of medical disciplines. Past audited manuscripts have been published in journals covering Oncology, Haematology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Paediatrics, Immunology, Transplant Medicine, Pulmonology, Anaesthesiology, Gastroenterology, and Orthopaedics, among others.
Scientific Integrity
Word-Medex uses iThenticate for checking of the manuscript text for matching text of millions of published scientific papers, scholarships and webpages. Our fee is $200 AUD, which covers the web-based iThenticate check plus altering areas of the text with high similarity indexes to less than 10-15%, ensuring the manuscript will be assessed by the journal's check as "Pass" or "Proceed to Review".
